Egg Collective is thrilled to present, Unearthed, featuring new works by gallery artist, Steven Haulenbeek. Each unique work featured in the exhibition utilizes the meticulous resin bonded sand process developed by Haulenbeek in his own studio. A new line of resin wall sconces will also be publicly introduced for the first time.
Deftly walking the line between art and design, Haulenbeek’s creative practice explores the elemental processes that shape Earth. Early material experiments with linear wire brushing and sandblasting evolved into a visual language unique to Haulenbeek while also transforming his studio into a conceptual desert—a space inspired by the vast, windswept dunes of arid landscapes and the intricate textures of the ocean floor. This environment became a crucible for Steven’s creative practice, eventually leading him to create a unique process for using resin bonded sand (RBS) in his sculptural work. Deeply influenced by the refinement of forms created by natural erosion, the RBS process is characterized by the careful removal of material. While conceptually inspired by nature, the work also alludes to human creativity and ability to manipulate material processes, highlighting the interplay between nature and artifice.
